1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using FrameCap ("the Extension" or "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not install or use the Extension. These terms apply to all users of the Extension.

2. Description of Service

FrameCap is a browser extension and software utility that captures visual keyframes and spoken transcripts from online video players to facilitate personal study, research, and multimodal AI analysis. The Extension operates entirely within the user's browser and does not require an account, cloud relay, or mandatory server connection to function.

FrameCap is provided for personal, academic, and commercial use. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Extension subject to these terms. You may:

  • Use the Extension for any lawful purpose
  • Capture screenshots and transcripts of videos you have legitimate access to view
  • Use captured screenshots in personal study, research notes, team presentations, and AI chat prompts
  • Install the Extension across multiple personal or work devices

4. Restrictions

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Extension
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative software products based on the Extension
  • Use the Extension to capture content for unlawful purposes, harassment, or mass automated scraping in violation of applicable laws
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary copyright or attribution notices
  • Distribute, re-package, or re-sell the Extension outside of the official Chrome Web Store

5. Intellectual Property & Captured Content

The Extension, including its code, user interface, brand assets, and documentation, is the exclusive intellectual property of FrameCap.

Regarding captured content: FrameCap is a local visual capture utility. All copyright and intellectual property rights of the captured video frames and audio transcripts belong exclusively to the original content owners. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that their capture and study activities comply with fair-use provisions, local copyright legislation, and the terms of service of third-party platforms.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all third-party web configurations.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall FrameCap, its developers, or contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Extension.

8. Website & Platform Compatibility

FrameCap is designed to work with standard, publicly accessible web video players (such as YouTube). However, certain websites may use technical measures, security policies, DRM encryption, or unexpected player alterations that prevent full or partial keyframe capture. FrameCap makes no guarantee of compatibility with all web players or future platform DOM revisions.

9. Updates and Changes

We may update the Extension from time to time to enhance features, fix issues, or comply with Chrome Web Store standards. Updates are distributed automatically via Chrome. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features at any time.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. Updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Extension at any time by removing it from Google Chrome. We reserve the right to revoke license access for any user who violates these terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Extension shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation.
